Wondering what the title means, it means a poor mans chariot. Yes, thats what a new completely A/C train between Hyderabad and Bangalore is called.
Some may wonder why call it a poor man's train when it is a centrally air conditioned train and the price is also at a premium. There is a lot of traffic between Hyd & Blr and usually everything is booked, and we folks are charged a lot of money by the Govt and Non Govt transport companies.
For ex: the KSRTC volvo regular fair is Rs 600, but during the weekends the fair is Rs 1000, thats an astonishing 65% more and is being charged by a Govt transport company, the non Govt one would be even more. The flights are expensive and with the new international airport the time advantage is lost too..
So looking at all these things, Lalu may have named this train the poor souls train - so poor may not just mean w.r.t money : here it means w.r.t the higher fares we poor people are charged - apt name i would say!

IPL begins...
I havent seen the first match completely, but looked pretty good. Hope all the hype means something and we will see some good cricket.
The good thing was even though Bangalore lost, the crowd was cheering for the Kolkata folks and thats something i really liked, we usually do not appreciate what our opponents do, but a knowledgeable crowd would always do that and it was a pleasant surprise.

Medical Shops everywhere
Not sure if this is the byproduct of development or something else but i see there is an exponential increase in the number of Medical shops in Hyderabad. I havent seen so many of them in Bangalore though, so maybe the folks in Hyd are more sick these days?? dont know...
There are a host of Med Plus, Apollo etc everywhere...in some areas there are 6-7 medical shops in the same place, a classic example in Punjagutta road, you have close to 8 medical shops in close vicinity.
